Azul Wasi

There are sometimes very nice social decisions taken by the authorities, like for example in 1997 when the Police of Cusco started a social program called "vaso de leche" to give each kid in Cusco his daily glass of milk. This initiative became immediately very popular and children where coming from every corner of the city to have their glass of milk. One specific policeman and his wife (a nurse) got close to the children, often helping out with homework, giving support in their daily life, creating bonds and even welcoming some of them to sleep at their home.

In 2000 the Police of Cusco completely droped-off the project "vaso de leche". From one day to the other, the kids had nowhere to gather and begged the policeman to take care of them. Who can resist 10 begging kids? The policeman, his wife and "their" kids moved out of the city, built houses for all of them (azul wasi = blue house), and started a new life as a new family. In 2012 there are 15 kids living with the policeman and his wife. They commit each day to give their children education, food, make them laugh, make them strong, and give them faith in themselves and in the future.

How can Léon help? Azul Wasi currently needs to extend their facilities to be able to welcome more kids. The cost of the extention is around 4000 USD.
