Yachay Wasi

In quechua, "yachay wasi" means: learning house. In Ollantaytambo (sacred valley, near Cusco), a group of persons created a place where kids from difficult neighborhoods could come after school to do their homework in a safe, quite place. Some homework supervisors were present to support them too. Every day, it was more than 40 kids coming to yachay wasi, happy and eager to learn!

Along the years, the yachay wasi even extended to a library and a daycare for babies until 5 years old. They were even working on the project of having their own school when, a drawback came their way: until then the premises were offered by the municipality of Ollantaytambo but, unfortunately on 25th April 2012, the municipality decided to take took the premises back. Having no more place to gather, the kids are currently gathering in Ollantaytambo's main square.

How can Léon help? Renting new premises (about 200 US$ per month)
